Teen Origami Workshop

For the “Paws to Read” Summer Reading Program for teens, I planned an origami workshop where participants learned to fold animal shapes. I located an instructor, reserved space, obtained funding, and purchased neccessary supplies. I also promoted the event by creating flyers and an in-library display, and by advertising online.

Teen Zine Workshop

To promote and celebrate the creative expression and meaningful participation of teens in the local community, I collaborated with a Friends of the Library volunteer (an English major) to provide an opportunity for teens to plan and create their own zine and have it published. The workshop consisted of two sessions. The first session introduced participants to zines and allowed them to brainstorm and begin creating content. The second session involved assembling the zine.

Blind Date with a Book

During the first half of February 2014, I put together a "Blind Date with a Book" program to celebrate Valentine's Day. Books were wrapped in brown or red craft paper and patrons encouraged to check out books without knowing what they were getting. Read my blog post for more details on how this program was carried out. This was one way of putting a little fun in the library!
